We’ve had a tremendous response to the launch of Clear for iOS 7 yesterday, and we’re replying to your feedback as quickly as we can.

To help you understand a little better the situation with Clear for iPhone and the new Universal version that we’ve called “Clear for iOS 7”, here’s a few answers to your most common questions.

We’re not charging for iOS 7 support

Clear for iOS 7 is a brand new, Universal app that brings Clear to the iPad for the first time. This new version of Clear is simply called Clear for iOS 7 to indicate it’s designed for all your iOS 7 devices. A Universal app is one of the biggest feature requests of all time, and we’ve been working for the past 8 months to bring Clear to the iPad.

A New Paid App

We work incredibly hard to build great apps for you. However, the time and resources we invest aren’t free - we’re a proudly independent company, no venture-backing - and we have to tread the fine line between free updates and new, paid-for apps. We decided to create a new Universal app as we’ve spent the past 8 months working on it - and want to ensure that we can continue to develop Clear.

Clear for iPhone Works on iOS 7

Prior to the launch of iOS 7 we updated Clear for iPhone to ensure it works great on iOS 7. As we couldn’t mention iOS 7 in the release notes before iOS 7 launched, we’ve updated the release notes to clarify this.

Clear for iPhone Continues to Sync

Clear for iPhone will sync just fine with Clear for iOS 7 and Clear for Mac.

Free updates to Clear for Mac

Some folks mistook the “Clear for iOS 7” name to imply that Clear would get a new paid app when OS X Mavericks launches. That’s not the case, and Clear for Mac will be receiving free feature updates (including Reminders) alongside Clear for iOS 7 in the coming months.
