RapidWeaver 6 Released
· Dan
We launched RapidWeaver 6 just a few days ago on October 21st. We had no idea how the launch would go, especially as we were opting out of launching on the Mac App Store. Thankfully it’s blasted past all our exceptions and things have gone much smoother than we anticipated.
This launch was also special for us for many reasons, not least because RapidWeaver is our oldest are arguably most-loved product. We released the first version back in July 2004! It’s incredible to think that we’ve been building and supporting RapidWeaver and its users for over 10 years now. I’m very proud of this and hope we can continue to do this for many, many years to come.
It was a hard decision to launch outside the Mac App Store, but I’m glad we did. We’ve been able to provide a much better customer experience, especially for all our existing customers. Not only were we able to provide upgrade pricing, we were also able to provide free upgrades to customer customers that purchased RapidWeaver 5 in the 2 months before version 6 came out, and issue them with a free upgrade automatically. In my opinion this is great customer service, and something that’s missing from the Mac App Store.
Realmac Community
Alongside RapidWeaver 6 we also released a brand new version of the Addons area. It’s currently in public beta, but it’s shaping up really well with changes being pushed live pretty much every day. The new site allows users to browser, like and comments on the hundreds addons available from RapidWeaver’s thriving 3rd party community. While the the Realmac Community site currently just lists addons, it’s actually the start of something much bigger and over the next year the site will become increasingly more useful to you!
Thank You!
Finally, I’ll finish off by saying that everyone here is incredibly thankful for having such a great community and ecosystem around RapidWeaver. Hearing all the great feedback and seeing the sites that people are creating has really made it all worthwhile. Thank you.
Happy Weaving!
